Full-time (10-20 hours/week)

Overview

We’re looking for an energetic Organizing Coordinator. During this critical time for student organizing & our democracy, you will work with our Campaigns Director and lead a small team of student organizers to support our national & state-based campaign objectives. We’re searching for candidates who are problem solvers, strong delegators, and are capable of supporting multiple projects at once — whether remotely or on the field!

In this role, you will:

  • Manage our team of (currently 4) student organizers
  • Work across our several campaign teams to meet mobilizing needs
  • Manage our activist list, including posting action/event signup pages, emailing & texting members, and drafting outreach materials
  • Find strategies to grow our student activist list, create opportunities to further engage activists to join actions, volunteer, or even apply for our team
  • Build relationships with campus/regional groups & leaders, invite them to collaborate with us on shared campaigns
  • Coordinate our network of campus & state-based allies to mobilize their members for key days of action, especially in cities where we have a strong base like Washington, D.C.
  • Support our network of allies by convening meetings, building agendas, delegating action items & roles, and providing training/coaching where needed
  • Lead rapid-response organizing following authoritarian attacks on student rights, voting rights, or democracy more broadly

Are you a good fit for the role? We’re looking for someone with:

  • Capacity to work 10-15 hours/week on the above
  • 1-2 years of experience organizing in an internship role, with a campus campaign/org, or a nonprofit
  • Demonstrated leadership, ability to think strategically, and respond to a rapidly-evolving organizing landscape
  • Capability to build collaborative partnerships with organizations, and create harmony in coalition spaces
  • Strong interpersonal, speaking, and writing skills
  • (Nice to have) Experiencing managing organizing platforms like ActionNetwork, Mobilize, Every Action, or NGPVan.
  • (Nice to have) Ability to point to a past issue-based campaign you were a part of & helped win

About the Task Force for Democracy

We’re a youth & volunteer-led team organizing students across 6 campaigns to demand a democracy that works for our generation — not billionaires & corporations! We work alongside movement partners to center young people in the fight against advancing autocracy.

We’re nonpartisan. We don’t do electoral politics. And we stay focused on ending the root causes of inequality in our democracy.

We know that true democracy cannot only exist at the ballot box, but must be present in the workplace, and in our education. Our campaigns aim to end structural inequality across different areas of our democracy, and include: fighting voter suppression & money in politics, organizing students under autocracy, stopping a dangerous constitutional convention that would roll back our rights, using transparency laws to hold power accountable, and more!
